News and a dash of laughter
Our first ever On Democracy Sunday debuted this morning live and will continue every Sunday at 11:00 AM ET/8:00 AM PT on the On Democracy Podcast YouTube channel and my social channels.
We go over the news of the morning and then speak with ‘The Panel’ which this week was my dear friends Rachel Vindman and Rina Shah. We have ‘Panel Picks’ to keep it random and ended up talking about everything from Hallmark Movies to Thanksgiving in Oklahoma.
The first interview was with Steve Schwab, the CEO of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation for Military Caregivers on important legislation heading to the Senate and the importance of supporting our caregivers. I then spoke with Jess Piper the Executive Director of Blue Missouri about rural organizing and how we can do better going forward.
I hope you’ll check it out and subscribe. My goal is to offer a fun Sunday morning show that touches the news but is also entertaining. Bring your coffee and hang out with us!
Great first episode! Entertaining and informative. I really enjoyed Jess Piper. I’ve followed her for a while. She is exactly right that we have to have local organizations out in the rural areas talking to people and building relationships.
My area (most conservative district in my county) is a mix of two suburban neighborhoods and a big rural area and you can bet those folks in the rural areas vote. In my recent run for school board, yes, I hit the suburbs first because it was higher density, but I didn’t stop when I finished those areas. I had been advised by some longstanding members of the DCC to not bother with the rural precincts because of the lower density and how conservative they are. I hit them anyway and finished at 6:00 on Nov 4. I beat the conservative incumbent by 16 points. She really didn’t bother to knock on doors like I did. I freaking wore out a pair of shoes. It was worth it.
Will this episode show up in my FP Wellman OnDemocracy podcast feed??
