Eager to attack fellow Americans
The D.C. police takeover and National Guard deployment made Pete Hegseth so excited because he can't wait to see Americans cower for him
Made up crisis
We already know that Donald Trump’s deployment of National Guard and takeover of the D.C. police is nothing more than a fake out to distract us from Epstein and implement his dream of martial law. Once again he is bending the laws to his desire and daring anyone to stop him as they ignore court orders and push their malevolent plans.
This one is especially dangerous and the press conference today was ludicrous in a thousand ways. From his declarations of record crime levels in D.C. to threats against other cities to his usual mental lapses. I mean, he called Alaska ‘Russia’ and at some point said we defeated Napoleon too?
One thing that caught my eye especially was ‘Whiskey’ Pete Hegseth stepping up to the microphone to declare his enthusiasm for the mission, obsequiousness to Trump, and fake tough guy bullshit.
He was all but vibrating with anticipation.
There is a lot to unpack in that minute and a half. Let’s start with the “other units” comment. If you recall they tried this game in Los Angeles. They first deployed National Guard units and then to look really tough and Alpha they called in a battalion of combat infantry Marines.
It took at least three days of extra training to teach the Marines the bare minimum of operations on U.S. soil against civilians. For all the talk the only thing the Guard and Marines did for over a month was stand around Federal buildings bored and miserable.
Now, about them being “strong” and tough. How? The Constitution and Federal law are very clear on how our U.S. military can be used in civilian policing. In summary…they can’t except in the most limited of ways thanks to the Posse Comitatus Act.
The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law that restricts the use of the U.S. military for law enforcement purposes within the United States. It generally prohibits the use of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Space Force to execute the laws, unless specifically authorized by the Constitution or an Act of Congress. The term "posse comitatus" itself refers to a group of citizens summoned to assist law enforcement, but the Act specifically addresses the use of the armed forces in that capacity.
They have already stated they are federalizing the National Guard that puts them on Active Duty status. There is no insurrection or a national emergency no matter how horny Trump and Hegseth are to call it that. There isn’t even an all time high of crime in D.C. as per this handy chart. Trump loves charts.
Violent crime is literally at a 30-year low. But, as you may have seen in the news, famed DOGE member ‘Big Balls’ was hurt in an attempted carjacking a week ago so now it’s an emergency to Trump and all of the Republican sycophants and propagandists.
So, the very legality of any of this is questionable at best. While Trump is authorized to federalize the D.C. Police it’s only for 48 hours and up to a month with certain legal conditions. We will see if anyone sues.
I can’t imagine Congress doing anything to be honest.
Protecting borders
Then Hegseth went on to wax dreamily about the border mission. For those that don’t know, some 10,000 troops have been deployed to the Mexican border with their combat vehicles to use them essentially as surveillance posts.
The troops hate it. I mean they hate it.
Think about it. You are signing up to serve and train to defend the nation. They are now sitting in the middle of nowhere using the optics on their Stryker vehicle to scan a border fence for immigrants with kids trying to get a better life.
For months.
They don’t get combat pay. They don’t get extra leave. They are sitting away from their families for no reason other than so the Secretary of Defense can stand there in his stupidly tight suit to brag.
Beside that issue none of the border mission actions, or the L.A. fiasco, have anything to do with stopping crime in a major city. What they are doing in D.C. is truly using military forces to police.
It’s wrong. It’s borderline illegal. It’s a waste of money. It will destroy morale and hurt our military families.
But, none of that matters to Trump and Hegseth. As long as they get to talk tough.
Now…where are the Epstein files?

This is beyond reprehensible! Im so disgusted by the mob mentality of the, fascist regime in our Whitehouse. We need every.last.one.of.them.gone!
I'm so sorry that I can't afford to subscribe right now, Fred. I live on several hundred a month other than mortgage, and it just went up twice in a year (escrow). You do a great service and I would be happy to spread your links around.
In the meantime, (1) that now famous photo of the vet getting arrested? He should sue for unlawful arrest. And (2) WHERE is the courageous journalist who should have challenged Trump this a.m. about the crime stats? Were there any? This is worth risking your career or access to DJT for.
