The other day Trump saw fit to terminate the employment of the commissioner of labor statistics, Erika McEntarfer. This move was predicated by the chief's release of some statistical information Trump personally didn't agree with. With no substance to the firing except his gut feeling, what Trump did in front of the entire nation was to affirm that all statistical information coming from the White House from this day hence will be considered "Mierda de toro."
This should be broadcast everywhere! This is a horrible and despicable way to treat our military and veterans. Pete Hegseth has an absolutely demented view of military service and seems to have no respect for other people.
This is a giant step back. I spent years reporting on the mental health of troops and veterans, including the struggles of veterans with "bad paper" (https://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Troops-survive-battlefields-only-to-be-forsaken-11276505.php). The military and the VA have made much progress on mental health since the Vietnam era. Slow and imperfect progress, but progress all the same. That the progress is now being reversed is not only shameful but a betrayal of the armed forces and the veterans community. Thanks for bringing much needed attention to the issue.
Damn Army. Of course, not giving the exiting Soldier the care they need means the Army family—once ignored, then paternalistically celebrated, now viewed as a nuisance—won’t get the care they need either. Damn Army.
They don’t care about veterans. They never did. Once you’re out, you’re no longer useful to them. You’re just an expense that they don’t want to pay for. Any veterans or active duty service members that still support this administration are ruining the chance that they and others will be able to live a happy stable life post deployment.
This is awful. My oldest grandson spent 4 years in the army and I couldn’t be more proud of him!! It pisses me off no end that our orange blob in the White House AND our Secretary of Defense, who is a complete and total dumb fuck, have literally no respect for our military!! I can’t imagine being in the military. I pray that changes are made in this area.
Mental health issues always seem to be the last to be addressed, so it's pretty bad that the armed services are now being given permission to ignore them. Every soldier who needs help, whether for a physical or mental issue, should get it. Horrible behavior by the administration.
Sec. Kegstand has claimed the armed services are breaking recruiting goals because of changes "he" made, which is total and complete bullshit. The military was meeting recruiting goals FINALLY after years of being severely short (minus the Marine Corps, who are now asking Marines to early out) due to their efforts to increase recruiting and retention. Also, by lowering the number of needed service members. The means they went by to meet these goals (as a veteran) were sometimes borderline ridiculous, like lower ASVAB scores and waiving medical conditions NOT compatible with most military jobs. Now, along comes Hegseth, who cares more about eliminating hard working, loyal trans service members, those with skin conditions, what fingernail colors they wear, eyelash extensions(!) and god forbid, being black or female in a high ranking military position than how the military actually works. My bet is they're going to run into recruiting problems again sooner than later- what a fine time to introduce the draft.
