They were ready

They told us it was coming to this. We predicted it. Project 2025 promised it. Now we are here. The new Trump Administration came ready with hundreds of orders ready to be issued from Day One. They are staggering in scope and experts are literally parsing through them to find the hidden damage that is already being felt.

This was the plan. Back in 2018 Steve Bannon sat down with writer Michael Lewis. It was a confessional that remains as accurate today, seven years later, as it did then. He said, “The Democrats don’t matter. The real opposition is the media. And the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with shit.”

Project 2025 was built and ready and now we see the results. This is a roll up of all of the Executive Orders, memos, and statements so far courtesy of Yahoo News and reporter Andrew Romano as of yesterday at 4:00 PM ET. No guarantees of accuracy here as they are still flooding the zone.

Yes…seriously. That was just day one.

It’s the hidden poison pills

You see the way this works it isn’t the obvious stuff that does the most damage. While we are all talking about the ridiculous order to end birthright citizenship, rolling back prescription drug price negotiations, and the utterly asinine renaming of the Gulf of Mexico the truly evil stuff is buried.

As the saying goes, the devil is in the details.

Here is a post from Democratic Congressman Greg Stanton representing Arizona’s 4th District on the single sentence that follows “Terminating the Green New Deal.” No, they terminated funding of massive infrastructure projects that are already underway. That’s a whole lot of construction workers now out of work that has nothing to do with anything remotely green except money.

In the trenches it’s uglier

A friend who works at the Department of Veterans Affairs in a major city as a mental health professional posted the impact on their work. I will paraphrase to protect their identity, but it’s insane.

• All VA hiring is frozen. All job offers have been rescinded and the positions canceled. This includes doctors, nurses, social workers. This will immediately decrease access to healthcare and mental healthcare for veterans.

• The hiring freeze includes a very highly anticipated, and much needed, new VA Health Care Center which is due to open in the next three months.

• Ending telework and telehealthcare will lead to a significant drop in providers and robbing thousands of veterans of their mental healthcare providers.

• Ending remote workers will end up overwhelming facilities that have been downsized or in need of delayed repairs. There simply isn’t enough desks for the people who work remotely and many will quit which is the real goal.

• Supervisors across the entire government were issued spreadsheets listing their employees. They are directed to identify all of their jobs, whether they are in probationary positions, whether it’s a job created by department policy or Congressionally mandated.

• Word is spreading across the government that thanks to Schedule F, supervisors are being fired and replaced with what many are calling “techbros” with no idea what they are doing or experience in the departments they are being assigned.

This is a wholesale deconstruction of our government. People will die. Veteran suicide and homelessness will spike. Unemployment is going to explode. Government programs will fail.

Now what?

This was literally the Project 2025 plan. They were ready. We have to take action. Call your member of Congress. Government employees are encouraged to report what you are seeing. We must use our voices and our power to fight back every step of the way. They are flooding us now on purpose. The Democratic National Committee is in the middle of its leadership transition. Congress is still getting organized and new members finding where to park their cars. They were ready to strike fast and hard.

It’s working. We can’t surrender to their monstrous plans.
