Yes really
If you watch ‘On Democracy’ regularly you have probably heard me say it’s been a crazy week every week. This week it really was a crazy week as I started it in Washington D.C. with our friends at VoteVets flying in veterans from across the country to urge Congress to support Ukraine.
On Wednesday I hopped a plane to get back to St. Louis for the Democratic National Committee Fall Meeting and two full days of councils, caucuses, and events that served to pave the way for several key decisions and coordination for the coming year before the election. It was a full schedule.
I took advantage of both trips to chat with some brilliant folks about what their priorities are for the coming year, what we can do to win, and much more. This is the first time we’ve tried on location interviews for the show and it offered the chance to speak with some brilliant leaders and officials.
DNC National Chairman Jaime Harrison offered why he is optimistic about the upcoming year and what the party is doing to back up their plans. Minnesota Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan pulled from her organizing roots to share the success they are having with unified government, and Richmond, Virginia Mayor Lavar Stoney talked about how important the upcoming Virginia election is and his experience tearing down the monuments to the Confederacy in his city.
In addition, I was able to ask Retired Army Colonel Eugene Vindman a couple of questions in DC about how we can support Ukraine at home and what they think of our political situation.
All of the conversations were educational and paint the picture I’ve been talking about that the Democrats are winning. That there is no need for hand wringing but there is need to get to work and close the deal at the ballot box.
