Kids are the center of the fight but don’t have a fighter

So many of the issues we are dealing with today revolve around our kids and their future. From schools to healthcare and everything in between it’s children who are bearing the burden of the fight and until now there hasn’t been an organization with a singular focus on their issues. As it turns out kids don’t have a lot of money to kick in to pay for lobbyists.

Until now that is. Former Congressional candidate Dr. Annie Andrews and her cofounder Renee Harvey have launched Their Future. Our Vote. to serve as voices on the top issues surrounding our children and their futures. They are already in the fight and planning to do more. They were this week’s guests on the podcast.

Dr. Annie Andrews (@AnnieAndrewsMD) is a pediatrician and mom, who has dedicated her career to fighting for a brighter future for all children. After working as a pediatrician at the Children’s Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina for over a decade, she decided to run for Congress to give children a voice in Washington, D.C.. She was the Democratic nominee in South Carolina’s first congressional district in 2022. 

Renee Harvey (@HReneeHarvey) has fundraised for several Democratic candidates at the state and federal level, served as the Charleston County Democratic Party Finance Chair, and served on several local boards. Renee was instrumental in launching a non-profit called Heroes Need Masks, which was born as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. She most recently served as Finance Director for Annie’s campaign for Congress and is Executive Director and Co-founder of Their Future. Our Vote and the affiliated PAC, Their Future PAC.

The list is long

The issues that are touching on our kids welfare today and in the future are a lot and they aren’t going away any time soon. Their Future. Our Vote. has listed six main pillars they wish to address and seek candidates to support this cycle:

1. Climate Change

2. Quality education

3. Accessible healthcare

4. Sensible gun legislation

5. Reducing hunger and poverty

6. Democracy and voting rights

They are already in Washington D.C. meeting with members of Congress on both sides of the aisle to discuss these important topics including meeting with Annie’s opponent from SC-1, Nancy Mace, to discuss gun violence. The issues can’t be ignored and they will seek out candidates for Congress who will take them on.
