Old Friends Come Back

My friend Jeff Timmer and I met while serving as senior advisors for the Lincoln Project. He was the founder of Independents and Republicans for Biden and I was running our veteran and military family work. We hit it off immediately with his quick wit and brilliant political brain.

Jeff is truly an old school (former) Republican having served as the Chairman of the Republican Party of Michigan at one point and advised John Kasich’s campaign for President. But, he saw the light and left as Donald Trump came down the escalator and turned the Republican Party into a MAGA cult. Today he is an advisor to Democratic campaigns and leaders looking to turn the tide on this outrageous attack on our democracy.

Jeff was one of my guests in the earliest days of ‘On Democracy’ when I was still on the CallIn app and no one was listening. Now we have over a hundred thousand of the best people watch and listen and I can’t thank you enough.

The Show

We covered a lot of ground in this episode from the madness of the House GOP to the normalization of violence in the far right where this week a Republican Representative in the Michigan House honored one of the co-conspirators that plotted to attack Governor Gretchen Whitmer. The Democrats have a chance to unite the nation under overwhelming support for their key issues from universal background checks to a woman’s right to reproductive freedom. All we have to do is to do the work.
