It’s just a little cut here and there

The other day I wrote about how the great minds of the Democratic Party are telling us to be very careful not to react to all of Donald Trump’s provocations. We have to carefully “pick our battles” we are being told.

For example, they were convinced that defending the outrageous dismantling of USAID was the wrong battle because public opinion doesn’t support foreign aid. They all but fired 10,000 American’s, many overseas in dangerous places, but that wasn’t the battle. We had to wait.

Politico had a heartbreaking story on the human toll this week. This shocking paragraph caught my eye during the interview with a current USAID employee serving in an international crisis zone.

If my colleagues were kidnapped in the next day or two, they don’t even have the help button on their phone. If I had a colleague that was in West Africa and had someone from ISIS go and take them, they couldn’t even let the [Regional Security Office] know that they’ve been taken. Americans can and will die from this. And that to me, I don’t care what kind of weird power struggle you have or what your political ideology is, the fact that you are willing — or you are just so stupid that they don’t realize that cutting off these systems, you’re putting people in dangerous situations. There’s nothing. There’s no access. You can’t talk to the embassy. You can’t do anything.

But, for too many, that wasn’t the right battle.

Of course we can’t dial it up to 11 on every single asinine thing Trump says but what it means is that while really terrible stuff is happening the same people are fumble fuckng around not doing a damn thing. What exactly is John Fetterman going to get mad about?

You want to talk about you can play right into the DOGE and Project 2025 architects hands? Stay silent as they take away thousands of jobs, programs, and important entities to satisfy their billionaire owners.

Of course, we don’t need to get mad about the Gulf of America stuipidity but maybe we can show some emotion about the actually monstrous shit happening.

This is the plan they created. The mission is to simply trim here and there and flood the zone with lies so we all stay asleep. USAID isn’t corrupt but the man that owns Twitter says it is and everyone dutifully spreads the lies. It’s all designed to keep chopping away at things we need or protect us and keep the smart people quietly napping away.

Each of these are skirmishes in the real battle. All of them.

I have questions. Now that USAID has been dismantled what have they moved on to? How about the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The agency every rich corporate monster loves to hate. The bankers despise them. The credit card companies hate them. The title loan sharks hate them. The payday lenders hate them.

I did a report for VoteVets on how deeply the CFPB supports our veterans, service members, and their families and has from the very beginning. Just last spring CFPB announced that they had received over 400,000 requests for assistance from military community members. Only a month ago they announced a staggering penalty for Navy Federal Credit Union after finding that they had been illegally using overdraft fees against members. They were ordered to pay $80M to members and a $15M fine. That’s called return on investment.

But, as of now they have been ordered to cease all work and even cases that were being worked on. Sorry Sgt. Smith….that auto loan will still be 25% against the law.

Why would they want to get rid of the agency that protects consumers from predatory businesses?

I wonder if it was time to get upset when the entire staff of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency department that works with states on election security got put on leave?

“In recent days, 17 employees of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency who have worked with election officials to provide assessments and trainings dealing with a range of threats — from cyber and ransomware attacks to physical security of election workers — have been placed on leave pending a review, according to a person familiar with the situation who was not authorized to speak publicly.”

Literally, no announcement made and no explanation given to anyone. State officials had not thing but good things to say about the work to ensure that our systems for our elections aren’t hacked and are secure.

Why would they want to get rid of the agency that protects elections from being hacked?

Now we have word that DOGE employees are inside the Department of Education and announced Monday the canceling of a shocking $1 billion in research grants immediately that will effect thousands of Americans. Representative Melanie Stansbury of New Mexico has gotten word that they will all but eliminate the DOE in the next week by gutting it to nothing.

Is that the battle or is it just a sidebar because hey…nobody really likes the Department of Education according to polling?

Why would they want to get rid of the department that provides educational oversight?

These aren’t mysteries. They are all right out of the Project 2025 playbook and the feve dreams of Elon Musk and his billionaire friends.

The battle is now. This is the whole thing. They are dismantling our government with a snip here, a little chop there…until the entire government is nothing but a stump.

Will the smart people wake up then and tell us that there was nothing they could do?

I am not waiting. You shouldn’t either. Call your member of Congress. It doesn’t matter what party. Bombard them. Join any protests being organized. Write letters. Send emails. Donate to groups taking these bastards to court.

They certainly aren’t waiting in Germany where it appears a group of military family members greeted Pete Hegseth with boos and heckling about his ridiculous efforts to curb “DEI” that has led to the actual banning of books in DODEA schools where military kids attend around the world.
