Well said and exactly right. I’m a lesbian, and I just won a school board election against a Moms for Liberty type incumbent in the most conservative area in our county. I did it by wearing out a pair of shoes knocking on doors, including in the very rural part of my area which most people ignore. I talked with people while helping them fix fences, I found commonalities and built relationships, and I let them know I heard them. I won by over 10 points. I continued to run a clean campaign even after she outed me and accused me of being a union puppet. Putting in the work and making connections matters.

Excellent interview.

These lessons should be coming from House and Senate leadership. Given the ongoing senior leadership void, it's heartening to see junior Congresspeople stepping forward.

I'm with you..."catastrophizing in advance" is unproductive.
