Where do I start after the last two weeks?
Engagement, DNC, New Show, Arlington...lions, tigers, and bears...oh my!
Life comes at you fast
I am not sure there are truer words to be written than those five. Since I last wrote you I got engaged, attended the Democratic National Convention in Chicago as one of 200 credentialed Creators, came back with DNC COVID, launched a new show called On the Line with VoteVets, found myself in the middle of the Trump stunt at Arlington National Cemetery story, and recorded our 100th episode of On Democracy with FPWellman.
So, man, I am tired.
Every time I have sat down at my laptop to send you loyal readers a note something else landed in my lap and I thought…oh…I’ll add that to it. Now I would have to write a novel to catch up. So, I think instead I will just show you the cool stuff and go from there.
Engaged to an incredible woman who makes my life better
I had to get tactical surprise so I used the cover of the Tower Grove Park Farmers Market to lure my girlfriend to one of the most scenic little locations in St. Louis with a photographer staking out the spot. She said, ‘yes.’
Went to the DNC
The Democratic National Committee Convention credentialed 200 Creators as press for the events in Chicago. I was fortunate to be one of them and the experience was incredible. From witnessing history to interviewing brilliant leaders and advocates. I was even able to be on the floor as Tim Walz accepted the nomination as Vice President candidate on Wednesday. Last week’s show highlighted some of my favorite interviews and experiences.
Launched On the Line with VoteVets
I am excited to partner with VoteVets to host their new series of videos and LiveStream shows called ‘On the Line with VoteVets.’ I will interview key advocates and experts about veterans issues, campaigns, and national security in support of VoteVets mission of giving voice to veterans.
We started with a bang by interviewing my new friend actor Sean Astin and have been leading several conversations about the debacle at Arlington National Cemetery with Donald Trump’s campaign using that sacred ground for a stunt and getting in an altercation with staff in Section 60. To say the entire thing is disgusting would be the least. Veterans are absolutely furious.
I’ve been quoted in USA Today, the AP, and will appear on MSNBC in the Noon hour with Katie Phang to discuss this outrageous episode and disrespecting of our military community. See them all at VoteVets YouTube and their social media channels.
Last night I went live with Alex Vindman, Mike Lavigne, Charlotte Clymer, and Gold Star mother Karen Meredith. Watch that conversation now at VoteVets.
100 Episodes!
I started On Democracy as essentially a hobby and it has grown into this amazing community and over 30 million views on the MeidasTouch Network. It has been a humbling, educational, and joyful journey and I can’t wait to see what the next 100 brings. Thank you all for being part of it all.
I think I am caught up…I promise to write more this week. We really need to talk about Arlington.
Fred
Congrats on the engagement.
I remember when you had just started On Democracy!!! Cannot believe what’s happened since. Thanks for being your consistent, true blue SELF all the way!🇺🇸💙
