Talking with Rep. Dan Goldman about the debacle that is the House GOP
Chaos Caucus earns their name
Rep. Dan Goldman knows something about how an Impeachment Inquiry is supposed to be run after serving as lead counsel in the first impeachment of Donald Trump. Here is his extensive experience.
Goldman directed the strategy of the investigation and led the closed depositions and questioning of witnesses during the Intelligence Committee’s open hearings. From there hee oversaw the drafting and publication of the Select Committee’s 300-page report on the investigation, ‘The Trump-Ukraine Impeachment Inquiry Report’, which exhaustively detailed Trump’s efforts to extort Ukraine for his personal benefit. Goldman also presented the Report in testimony before the House Judiciary Committee. Finally, he served as lead counsel for the House Impeachment Managers during the Senate trial of Donald Trump.
So, yeah. Whatever the House Republicans are trying to do right now ain’t it. He made that abundantly clear during the House Oversight Committee hearing Thursday where he pointed out repeatedly the lack of fact witnesses in the hearing. When he led the first impeachment of Trump through the House Intelligence Committee they brought in 17 fact witnesses so testify to the evidence and facts of the case. The Republicans have literally hidden the ones they have claimed exist because it blows their case.
Shutting it down
Congressman Goldman joined us from the cloak room today in between votes where Kevin McCarthy was desperately trying to pass bills to avert a shutdown only to be scuttled by his own conference. The effects of this failure will hurt millions of Americans and the economy while the Republicans don’t seem to care at all.
All of it goes to the real issue with these extreme nationalist members of the House GOP caucus who are hell bent on undermining legitimate government functioning. As Rep. Goldman points out, there are members that would happily see the Capitol burn to the ground.
The entire conversation is one you don’t want to miss.
The show
Guest Representative Daniel Goldman (D-NY)
Representative Dan Goldman sits on both the House Oversight and the so-called Weaponization of Government Committee and has been battling back the extremists in the Republican Party since he arrived in Congress. There are some there who would be happy to see the building burn and as we hurdle towards a government shut down and sham impeachment investigation, we all get to see it too. He gives us the perspective from sitting in the front line of the fight. Rep. Goldman represents New York’s 10th District covering parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn. He is an attorney who, before running for office, served as lead counsel in the first impeachment of former President Donald Trump and as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York.

The UAW Strike shows us the Republicans are for
In case you missed it I did a deep dive for MeidasTouch on the UAW strike this week. I looked at what all of the Republican Presidential candidates had said before the debate, what the real issues the autoworkers are demanding, how we got here, and what President Biden is doing. Since I posted the video he actually walked the picket line as the first President in modern history to join a strike.
I think you will understand the situation better and help dispel some of the misinformation out there.
Thank you!
