The investment in alternative media needs to start now. Candidates can't simply drop by for interviews weeks before ED. They need to be a constant presence on a slew of podcasts and YT channels.
Alternate media needs to bolster one another...this cross-pollination is something that right-wing media does very effectively.
Legacy media is in a slow-motion death spiral. Consumers are now gravitating to voices they trust.
I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. It seems like a lot of people voted for Trump, but didn’t really get what he was planning to do. The Democrats should have communicated their message better, but also, worked harder to show Trump’s true intentions, and how exactly people will be affected by his plan.
We didn't lose to Trump on the economy. That's just a pretext. We lost to psy ops that targeted the "other" to visceral, not rational voters. Most voted to screw themselves economically and physically.
I just read a similar frustrating post by Andra Watkins from "How Project2025 will ruin your life" and how she was ignored by her State Rep, the DNC (who used her work without crediting her), the media and others about the dangers of Project2025.
I have to disagree a bit. Beyond misquoting the line (It's actually, "what we have here is failure to communicate" 😁), the more substantive issue is that in looking for what you hypothesized the issue to be (misinformation and disinformation, whether deliberate or not) you ignored the crux of the issue, which was laid out pretty well in the AOC quote section. It was about 'change' -- and while 2020 was also about change (because people still felt the existential threat of COVID and poor government engagement), so was 2016. In 2016, Bernie Sanders' campaign was based on change and that's why he did so well -- but the then, as now, the DNC establishment pushed back. It's not whether the change is good or bad either, it's about a message of change. I believe for the Democrats (I'm an Independent, though I probably vote like a 'Blue Dog Democrat') they need to do a truly deep analysis and if my contention is correct, they need to focus their efforts in 2026 and 2028 on a message of change.
Unfortunately we will suffer too. There isn't a scenario where just those who voted for him pay the price. I have a very scared daughter and son. I have two more with families who I worry about their futures. I am not willing to say "let them suffer."
Agree completely.

Fred. We need to talk.
He who controls mass media messaging controls the outcomes.
The become the new Sheriff in town is going to require some work and time - but it’s not as much as you think.
