Thank you for such a clear report of the past 2 days. Finding a source to trust to report what we know without much emotion and opinion has been challenging. We need more reporting like yours.
Thank you for your time on this. I’ve been at the WTF now mode..I can’t take the screeching howler monkeys trying to spin this for whatever they can profit off this.. they’re exhausting..
Thank you Fred. Apparently the initial “news conference” was a giant cluster fk of guesses and misinformation so it’s good to hear a clear voice about the situation.
Thank you again for writing such a clear, thoughtful, and informative article where you focus on the facts, not the fluff.
In times like this, and with all the fear of a black Swan event, keeping a level head will be more important than ever. Reporting like this makes that easier.
I have questions, not conclusions. I am concerned that something may have happened to the NOLA suspect, as well as the Las Vegas suspect, during their military service. Maybe something they learned about, even if they did not directly paricipate. War is hell, and we do not support our troops once they come home. We must give them people to really talk to, people who have had similar experiences. Obviously these were both troubled men. It is my wish that the VA will get the funding needed to give our heroes the support they need, but I fear it will not be so.
So many times with these episodes the person who carries this out seems to have a very noticeable shift from their previous personality.
I think we’re reluctant some times to think that this looks like it could be attributed by strife due to mental illness.
It’s certainly a serious change from cooperative and helpful.
I think the amount of untreated mental illness in this country is daunting .
It’s interesting that it’s one of the hardest things to actually be covered appropriately by insurance companies.
We need Universal health care with real thought and compassion around mental health diagnosis and coverage of treatment . It’s not a three visit deal . It often involves a longer term treatment .
Our attitudes about Mental Health goes a long way towards addressing and treating it successfully .
