Missouri has decided to keep showing the country how stupid Republicans can be

I moved back to my home state a little over 3 years ago. I had the good fortune to find an incredible partner in life and she was able to get me to move back to my hometown after swearing it off for almost 40 years.

St. Louis is a wonderful place to live. Affordable cost of living. Great cultural scene with world class museums, symphony, concert venues, botanical gardens, zoo, and one of the greatest city parks. The restaurant and car scene is superb amid a booming craft brewing and distilling industry.

Unfortunately, the state as a whole has plummeted in nearly every national ranking from education, quality of life, healthcare, and much more over the last 20 years of Republican super majority rule.

So while it’s truly a nice place to live we are cursed with an abundance of possibly the dumbest politicians on Earth.

I know you’re saying to yourself…”Come on, Fred, I live in Texas [Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, etc.]”

And now that I’ve written down all of those states I realize we do have stiff competition.

So, I will say we are home to an absolute ton of monumentally stupid Republican politicians in Missouri…along with some other places in the country.

Flame throwers, homophobia, and…bounties

How dumb are they?

Well, if you’ve been following me for a while you have probably seen this ridiculous video of two Missouri State Senators using flamethrowers to burn the “woke agenda” or some stupid thing. Luckily one of them got ridiculously humiliated in his race for governor and the other remains just as useless as you think he is.

You probably also remember the woman who decided her path to being the Secretary of State involved being a hateful and virulently homophobic jackass. Valentina Gomez made a huge splash in MAGA circles and looked to be the darling of the future…then she took a hilarious 6th place in the Republican Primary and we haven’t heard from her since. Here was her big debut on the national “stage” and I won’t show her later little videos because of the disgusting slurs and hate she dishes out.

Also…what the hell is up with the flamethrowers with these people?

But wait there’s more

Our latest embarrassment comes from new state Senator-Elect David Gregory who represents a large swath of western St. Louis county. This is not a poor place as its an an affluent area of nice homes, growing diversity, good schools, and at least one racist Senator.

Incoming Missouri legislators are currently pre-filing their bills for the relatively short annual state legislative session. Gregory jumped right into fray keeping his promise to crack down on illegal immigrants that he ran on.

Here is his absolutely idiot idea as laid out in the Kansas City Star:

“An incoming Missouri Republican lawmaker introduced a bill this week that would offer $1,000 bounties to residents who turn in undocumented immigrants to the state highway patrol.

The bill, filed by Sen.-elect David Gregory, a St. Louis-area Republican, would require the Missouri Department of Public Safety to create phone and email hotlines as well as an online portal where Missourians would be able to report alleged undocumented immigrants.”

Yes. That’s his big idea. Creating an entire system of hotlines, websites, and a new mission for the already severely overworked State Patrol to chase down illegal immigrants for Daddy Trump to deport.

More of his big plan…

“In addition to the payouts, Gregory’s bill would require the Department of Public Safety to create a “Missouri Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program.” The program would certify people to become bounty hunters to find and detain undocumented immigrants.

Individuals who are licensed as bail bond agents or surety recovery agents would be able to apply to become bounty hunters under Gregory’s bill.

Undocumented immigrants who are caught by the bounty hunters would be considered guilty of “trespass by an illegal alien.” Those found guilty of the offense could face jail time and would be prohibited from voting and other rights.”

The irony of all of this is that in his district the best way to probably catch these “dangerous” immigrants is the crews that meticulously maintain their McMansions, fix their roofs, hang their Christmas lights, and cook their meals at most restaurants.

In the end this is simply a disgusting and racist way to get attention for a freshman Senator that we all suspect has bigger plans for his future as he started building his newest McMansion in the capital city even before he won his election.

It has little chance of passing but I am sure if it does that hotline is going to be lit up with reports just like every other attempt by these fools to turn us against each other.

But, for me it’s another example of Missouri Republicans more interested in showboating for Donald Trump and getting press than actually fixing problems that plague the state from the collapse of rural healthcare, underfunded schools, collapsing and poorly maintained infrastructure, and deeply corrupt elected officials who continue to escape accountability.

Another stupid stunt for attention instead of actually governing.
