America is so easily manipulated. Of course this is not new. On Sat night after a few reds by the fire, I let my fed up show and issued a flash warning here and in LinkedIn that America was under attack from space. I then linked a full version of the "war of the worlds" recording that was produced by Orson Wells in 1938 that was also based in NJ ironically enough. That too caused mass panic. Sadly I didn't go viral likely bc I made it obvious it was satire - not that anyone appeared to get it.

The point is this. When a population has been sufficiently destabilized and awash in disinformation, as we were in 1938 and today, it's easy to make people believe anything. It's also very useful if you want to simultaneously push through real challenges to democracy behind the superficial distraction.

This has been going on your years and it only ever gets worse. The public are woefully ill equipped to even understand what's going on let alone see through it. Common sense is long gone. When a recent state governor and senatorial candidate publicly panics only to discover his UFO is in fact stars in the Orion constellation - either he is trying too hard to get noticed by the new Admin as someone stupid enough to run a govt dept into the ground or he is just stupid plan and simple.

You assume that War of the Worlds was fiction.

🤷🏼‍♂️

Remember, anything can be a UFO if you're bad at identifying things.

That’s a good point.

I used to live there. It jumped off the page at me. NYC isn’t even in the top 10. Thank you kindly for the update.

It has the added benefit of being true…

These conspiracy theorists and MAGA nuts want to see how they can control people by making up lies and propaganda to see how many people fall in line and believe their lies. It is to see how much they can CONTROL the narrative and influence the world.

If the truth doesn’t suit your worldview, simply deny it. Re-write it and then insist it’s the truth. Deny any and all reasonable sources that prove you are wrong. Tell everyone who disagrees with you that they are worthless and evil. See everything as a conspiracy or an attack. So now we’re going to shoot at aircraft until someone is killed because we can.

They are distracting us with stupid stuff to keep us from focusing on the damage they are doing to our society!

“Media companies are rolling over to authoritarianism like stray dogs for a pat on the belly...

Now we are seeing aliens and drones in the stars.”

Correlation? What will they have left to talk about when truth gets them sued or worse?

I think I’m going to go make myself a grass fed Negroni and see if Rachel is still functioning.

Yes and they vote. And they’re all twinkly-eyed like a kid on Christmas Eve about what MAGA Claus is bringing them for Christmas.

In the constellation Paranoiac, the stars are too dim to see with the nekkid eye.
