Really appreciate your summary of what is going on with the Southern California fires. Jasmine Crockett is amazing, I love her. I grew up in San Gabriel California. My sister lives in South Pasadena. My parents were just on the border of the evacuation warning. Dad is in skilled nursing so they kept him at the retirement home in Duarte California. My sister picked up my mom who stayed with my sister the last few days in South Pasadena until they were able to take my mom back to her assisted-living apartment back at the retirement home in Duarte. I’m a flight attendant and experienced 100 mile hour winds first hand on Tuesday when I was on the ground at (LAX) and the provisioner could barely open the back galley door. I took pictures when we took off out of LAX going to Las Vegas on Tuesday of the beginning of the Palisades fires so scary and terrible - came back from Sacramento into Long Beach on Wednesday over Pacific Palisades and took a nighttime video of the horrendous apocalyptic fires raging at that point. Had to work with coworkers who were parroting the lies from faux news saying well in Norway they rake the forest and I just had to keep my mouth shut thinking the whole time that Norway doesn’t have La Niña or Santa Ana winds. Or La Niña, which causes extra vegetation growth that turns to tinder during La Niña years. Climate change has caused both of these climate events to be so extreme, and I appreciate you explaining and spelling out the issues, as well as with the water supply and the issues with the pumps and reservoirs being depleted. I felt like I was losing my mind when my coworkers were spouting the lies and hearing Republicans blame DEI on the news. I appreciate your calm summation of what is happening and bringing in all of the different elements. It truly is overwhelming in addition to the lies from Republicans pointing fingers and placing false blame on DEI and women? But we come together and help each other, that’s what we do. My sister opened her vacation home in Palm Springs to a friend and her husband and their dog who lost their home. I have a friend from high school who lost her home in Altadena, but she and her husband and cat are able to stay with her mom in the local area. I really loved the clip with chef Andres, and he even did mention that one of the firetrucks was from San Gabriel - my hometown.
