Yes to it all. The GQP is evil; the democrats in office are largely invertebrates, and actually I feel better than I have in many weeks - because yes, WE THE PEOPLE are pissed. Outraged. And we will need to be, to claw back our country, the world’s safety and our rights. I’ve no doubt that they will be shocked by the power of the sleeping giant that true Patriots are. Veterans. Scientists. People who understand what the Constitution is: a noble promise we haven’t yet fulfilled. But I think now it’s our turn. They think the game is over but actually it’s finally beginning 🤗

Good, let's get at it. When do we get busy. Tell me. I have been calling every day, every damned day and it is doing nothing but running my nphone bill up. In Virginia , where do we meet?

Looking into a community garden or CRTing a small organic farm, building phone tree communities so vulnerable people know they are t alone - and a couple of other tricks up my sleeve. 😉

I’ll message you!! And THANK YOU for your hard work. You’ve been carrying the weight of the sleeping giant with too little help… but the more of us start to wake up and help lifting the faster we hit that tipping point 🥰

The message needs to be shouted out there -that the billionaire bros club is the enemy of all of us people who are not in their inner circle. However it can be heard- somehow the right wing bubble has to be blown apart and reality messaging replaced bit by bit. Getting through to one magat at a time can change the direction of future elections. Especially if they realize that they and their family are also targets of the republican cuts to benefits and mom or grandparents are left without food or rent let alone healthcare.

I really appreciate your vision of how to fight back! When watching podcasts and reading comments we mostly talk to our own people (I’m assuming). At the negotiating table in the Rotunda, it would be hard not to have coverage from other media sources. Screenshots of the coverage could be plastered on billboards around the country.

Many Americans are afraid to say what we think out loud. Why shouldn’t we be? We are afraid for our physical safety. Legal, financial, career, and other retributions loom large. When I was 18, I could take the risk. Now, not so much. Finding a way to preach to the sinners (and not the choir) so that they can be informed is really important!

I find as I move through life here in HawleyLand that when I just make pointed but subtle mention of what’s going on, it either doesn’t register at all or it registers in the other person kinda like “oh thank goodness, I’m not alone.” In former cases, I’ll make another gentle info push; usually either folks are very interested in learning or they demonstrate that they are not, but without animosity. 🤷‍♀️ Of course some have been brainwashed and they show THAT - and then I know my time and energy and/or dollars are better spent elsewhere.

And those who give “I’m not alone” energy usually need to express their feelings and be heard with compassion. Then I offer to stay in touch if they ever need anything.

I also think that there are more paid trolls on any popular social media than most people realize. There are the weaponized brainwashed, to be sure, but more of us in the real world agree by far on most things than it would appear from inside apps.

And in the end, America as a hope and promise was only able to exist inasmuch as differing opinions could be expressed - common ground and compromises found. If we expect it from our elected officials we also have to be willing to model the behavior.

You make really good points here!!! I wish I were more like Maya Angelo and would call out offensive behavior immediately, but I am usually not. I do have my moments though! So, we walk a fine line between modeling good citizenship and our need to call out the unthinkable. I guess those are really the same things.

We are in agreement 💯. All are required I think, with a healthy dose of making sure we are reading the room in the immediate and larger senses. Some of us will naturally be better at some tones and approaches than others and that’s just as it should be. It takes all of us and all our gifts to keep the world moving in a better direction 💖

Indivisible is planning a nationwide protest on Saturday, April 5. Put it on your calendar and attend one near you! Or, if you can, attend the protest in Washington, DC.

It's time to take to the streets!

I love your idea of the table and fully support that! I agree that if we don’t hold the Dem leadership accountable for their inaction then we are just as much to blame for what happens as they are. Schumer and the rest who are sitting on their hands doing absolutely nothing need to retire because when it comes to our elected representatives they need to either lead or get the hell out of the way of those who will. We deserve better.

Steven Beschloss made mention of the Vichy government of France that collaborated with the Nazis during WW II in reference to Schumer and the other 9 who voted to allow rethuglicans, tramp and musk to keep on plundering the government for all its riches and wrecking lives along the way. I tend to agree.

Bad analogy. It was a coin flip. Heads you win. Tails you lose.

If the government shut down, Trump could try to stop all activities, including shut down the courts.

It's not a messaging battle. (If it is, Schumer is an idiot). I truly believe that the alternative was martial law.

If the government was shut down, Trump would declare an emergency and institute martial law with NO ONE to stop him.

Schumer bought us 60 days, maybe. The end result is still the same. If we don’t do a general strike, we will live under tyranny.

We weren’t ready for a general strike. We have maybe 60 days to get ready.

May we all awaken, and may we all stand strong.

The time to start organizing a general strike was last November, if we had any leadership that would have happened.

So, the time is now. Get the food, medicine, tools, and whatever is necessary for survival and start. We don’t need to wait for a signal or permission, we just need to do it. That B. S. about boycotts being illegal tells us all we need to know about their weakness.

After yesterday's debacle on the Senator floor, I'm through with the Democrats until they force Schumer and Jeffries to step down as minority party leaders. No donations, no support, nothing. I think many Dems would like to fight, but as long as they have weak, ineffective, leaders incapable of rising to the occasion, they'll continue to flounder. In Schumer's case, I'm not sure he even realizes there's an occasion to rise to. If they don't know how to remove them, they should call Nancy Pelosi for advice, she's been down this bean row before.

FP - I'm a federal employee who retired at the end of 2024 because I was ready to retire, but also because I saw this coming. We here in the DC area DO get what's going on, because we are living it. But many of the people out there who are complaining voted for this. Or they didn't vote at all. I'm not saying they shouldn't protest -- I'm glad they are! But they are also responsible for the mess we are in.

H.L. Mencken wrote that "Democracy is the theory that the people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." We're getting it, because "we" voted for it. We The People elected a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist who was very transparent in his desire to use the power of the federal government to extract retribution on his personal enemies. We The People chose this convicted felon over an accomplished prosecutor, state attorney general, US Senator and Vice President who had dedicated her life to public service, not personal gain, because ... what? The price of eggs? Because she was a black woman?

I'm glad the country is waking up to what it has done. But We The People chose this. People who are now saying, "But wait, I didn't vote for THIS!" simply weren't paying attention.

I just hope it's not too late. They are out to drain the Treasury and devalue as many public assets as they can so they can buy them up for pennies on the dollar. And We The People handed them the keys to the vault.

So yes, the people are pissed. But many of us are pissed at the people who voted for this guy.

When people feel they have no options they act out. Look at the stupid mother fuckers who believed Trump in 2020. Some looked at gum barrels pointed at they and were prepared to die. Too bad they were stupid and gullible, but that's not the point. Now the tables are turned and it feels like we're heading toward a one party pseudo Christian nationalist government. I know I'm not going to take that lying down. My own rep, Emily Randall, (I like her but..) was going on about writing letters and calling reps. What! The Republicans don't give a fuck! Dems get the fuck off your asses and do something! Something like:

-Tell us the address of some asshole republican who we should intimate.

-Tell us when and where to stop all traffic and block the entrance to a building fucking Musk is headed to.

-Tell us where you heard Musk will be next.

Got the picture?
