Republicans left DC with no deal on the table for the debt ceiling. Matt Gaetz told the truth about their position this week saying they felt no need to “negotiate with their hostage.” This comes after Ronna McDaniel already said a debt collapse would be good for their candidates this cycle. What are you hearing in your circles about who is to blame in this moment? https://youtube.com/shorts/Hg7tYc_Qrhs?feature=share
1) I have ZERO doubt that the Republicans WANT a default., because 2) They believe that from a political standpoint, it will hurt the Democrats more than it will hurt them, and 3) They don't give a you-know-what about what happens to the country because of it.
And, they're probably right that the public will blame the Administration more than it will blame them. People don't engage in the analysis necessary to understand whose fault (the Republicans) this really is.
Me personally? I’m madder than a wet hen at all those assholes who dare take our tax dollars in salary and in return, they prove that there’s not enough shot and powder to blow them to the Hell they came from. Clear enough? They crash the economy and my retirement almost disappears so there’s no way they deserve anything other than the opprobrium I hope they all get covered with.
They literally don't care and I am frustrated because the Administration is not doing a good job of explaining how ridiculous it is that they are demanding cuts to raise the debt ceiling when the budget was approved. This isn't allocated funds approved by Congress. What they are doing is nothing but hostage taking and people don't seem to understand.
I think the debt ceiling definition has been repeated almost to death. I’m pretty sure that anyone paying the least bit of attention knows. Republicans pulled this crap with President Obama and questionable deals were made to finally pass the damn thing. This isn’t new for them. What is new is having the leadership hanging on by his short hairs and a House majority willing to wield their scissors on him. What does any citizen do in a situation like this?
All McCarthy and the extreme right. They’ve said as much. And, it’s painfully obvious since McCarthy was elected speaker that these types of moves were always the plan.
I also think that Gaetz literally meant the Freedom Caucus having to negotiate with McCarthy on any changes he wants to make. They have him by the balls as far as how tenuous his position as Speaker is.
Thank you. That was my going away gift when I left the unit the first time in 1994. I made them swear they wouldnt get me some outrageous gaudy 101st patch thing...so they did.
The radical right doesn’t give a damn about any of it and won’t lose a single vote. The question is why can’t House Dems make a deal with McCarthy that’s acceptable to a half dozen GOP to isolate the radical right thus rendering them powerless?

That’s the calculation.

Absolutely. Love the 101st patch in the logo.

The hostages have escaped. 🤞🏽
Astonishing negligence.

See what Robert Reich just posted on Substack.

That's always the play. We have to scream loud and clear who is causing this and why.
