Like you I am a retired officer who served in Iraq. We lost some of our Iraqi senior officers to assassination attacks when I was with the advisors in Al Anbar during the surge. They included one of the brightest and bravest battalion commanders in the 7th Division.
Sadly, I have been expecting such violence since the end of Trump’s first term and the attack on the Capitol. The killing of Rep. Hortman and her husband, and the attempted killing of Sen. Hoffman and his wife was targeted and unfortunately I expect that the assassin is not the only person planning such attacks. Until Trump I never believed that an American President would encourage such violence. We live in a new era, one of danger and peril. The killers are not lone wolves but devoted followers of an evil madman.
My prayers are with the families and circles of friends and constituents. This is a tragedy an expected tragedy that we have see before Nancy Peloais husband, Judges son, civil rights leaders, President Kennedy, attorney general Kennedy, KKK burning crosses in yards and woods that involve lynchings burning of bodies, hunting of humans like an animal and shooting them! And yes the attempt on Trump who whips up this recent hate, pardons felons and corrupt people, and lies as he breathes for people like this killer to seek out is insanity believing all the whipped up lies to include republicans politicians and maga media noise amplifying the hate and lies.
We need to stop with the oh my, I’m shocked, I didn’t expect this to happen in America only third world country’s when it’s happened in the late past and recent years. I don’t even need to bring up slavery or the slaughter of Native Americans.
So STOP PLEASE WITH “ALL RESPECT”! PLEASE STOP WITH THE SHOCK AND AWE! THIS HAS BEEN AMERICA! You’ve witnessed it read about it, heard about it, protested about it etc etc etc! When one accepts who America has always been and demand change and stop voting low character, liars, people who are corrupt and disrespect the life of others and then attend church on Sunday, ONLY THEN WILL YOU SEE AND BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT! Hate and cruelty has been normalized and accepted in this country because it has been toward others. WELL it will NOW hit your door where you cannot hide or be silent any longer or put a fingernail into the change instead of your whole body!

Many psychologists point to things like unchecked anger, personal disenfranchisement, lack of emotional regulation, and even online radicalization as factors that contribute to someone committing horrific acts. And, while it’s true that men (white or otherwise) are statistically overrepresented in certain types of violent crime, this social conditioning, propaganda commentary intake from FOX, have created mental health crises in America.
They should be banned, as other countries have done.
I hope they find this bastard quickly. I hate that I feel this way, but I hope he resists arrest, because you know if he goes to trial, Trump will find a way to pardon him.
My heart goes out to the family and friends of the victims.
Everything appears to be state level: as long as a Democrat is governor, assuming this assassin is taken alive, prosecuted and convicted, he's going to prison.
May courage rise in the hearts of our voices, guided not by fear, but by truth and understanding.
May wisdom guide our words to hold firm those to account for their actions done in bad faith.
Choose justice over obedience, remembering our forefathers gave their lives to the Constitution, and not for power.

All week there have been hundreds of thousands protesting against the Trump Regime's illegal activities:
It's blatent disregard for putting most American lives in harm's way through para-military engagement of civilians, their disappearences, and the suspension of national medical programs.
It's destruction of our economy, causing widespread losses of personal savings, pensions, social security, and our ability to make a living, through psudo-economic policies that make no sense and have led to hyper inflation and the devaluation of the US dollar.
Advocation of Trump's own legal accountability to the courts, and our own choices for local government.
Use signage and messaging to make your numbers visible.
- stop H.R.1 or the Big Beautiful Bill
- demand the constitution be reveered and not perverted
- reinstate respect for the rule of law
- call for an end to his divisiveness
The best way to protest against the military parade is not to be in Washington DC - so that only crickets are there.
All of this will show the courts and our leaders the destruction of our society by Trump is unwarranted, and contrary to the values America was founded on. Show there is no justifiable reason for it.
Ghastly and horrifying and enraging. My heart aches for the victims, their loved ones and all Minnesotans. America is being held hostage by right-wing domestic terrorists, thanks to the chief terrorist and public enemy #1 - the MANGO MENACE currently squatting in the Whites Only House. He pardoned the J6 criminals and gleefully encourages violence against his perceived rivals. Now the magats think they can get away with anything. We are living in a true horror show.
I feel ill. It is terrifying. I am so, so sorry for the families, and hold the lawmakers as heroes.

Strangely this feels like 9/11.
Only the terrorists are domestic.
