Nice way to spend a Sunday and reminiscing. Loved the pictures of the CCC re-do of the fort. I live about 9 miles from another, probably larger CCC project, The Blue Ridge Parkway, also the jumping off point of many great hikes. Speaking of which Fred, have you considered hiking the Appalachian Trail?
I have spent some quality time on it as a civilian and in Ranger School in Dahlonega, Georgia. Unfortunately my Army damaged back won't let me carry a heavy backpack anymore so I'm more of a short haul hiker so it might be beyond my body.
Beautiful photos. I watched the Arch going up when I was a freshman in high school. There's a spot at Big Bend & Geyer Road where train tracks run diagonally through the intersection. Heading east, it was a straight shot down those tracks to the Arch. It was fun watching go up a bit at a time, til they closed it at the top.

I used to take walks in the Kelly Park/Rock Springs Run park that is north of Apopka. But It's a distance to get to from where I am currently living and I do miss just taking a walk in nature and listening to the water flowing out of the Springs and into the woods.
Such a peaceful piece. You’ve reminded me that walking in fields and the woods is the thing I need today. Watching the tall grass wave, listening to the leaves. Being in the moment. Might head out to Shaw Nature Reserve. It’s more my speed, level terrain, older body. :)

God knows, I understand that! As you no doubt know, this western part of the state is perfect for survivalist training.
A great way to start my week, thank you!
Thank you
I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip to my hometown of Montreal!
We had such a great time. Very cool city.
Love to read that! Wouldn't have traded growing up there for anything in the world.
Fascinating! A lovely, lyrical read. Thank you 😊
Thank you Annie.

Love it. I know that area well. I grew up in Kirkwood.
I remember that about you.
