I’m excited about my new series of interviews with Democratic candidates and newsmakers called ‘In the Hot Seat with FPWellman’ which debuted three weeks ago on MeidasTouch network. Colin Allred takes on Cancun Cruz

I loved my conversation with Colin as the debut episode. He is an inspiring leader with a remarkable background from a working class childhood to the NFL before returning home to serve his community. Now he is taking on Ted Cruz and recent polls have him neck and neck with one of the most reviled Senators today.

Ted is more interested in flogging his podcast, which it appears he was paid an astonishing quarter a million dollars for from iHeart Media just last quarter, than being a Senator. Ted just wants to make noise and get on Fox News. Check out this video of him at the border last month getting cranky with reporters asking reasonable questions.

Representative Colin Allred

Congressman Colin Allred was born and raised in North Texas by a single mom who was a public school teacher. He earned a full-ride football scholarship to Baylor University, and after college, he deferred his acceptance to law school to play in the NFL where he was a linebacker for five seasons. A career-ending injury then opened the door for him to fulfill his other dream -- becoming a civil rights attorney. After serving in President Obama's Administration at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Allred moved home to Dallas to run for Congress. He defeated a 22-year Republican incumbent and now represents Texas’ 32nd District, where he and his wife are raising their two children. Allred’s work in Congress is guided by his dedication to helping hardworking families gain the same opportunities he had to chase his version of the American dream.

Update on Flynn Lawsuit

Update on the ongoing defamation lawsuit against me by ex-Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn. As you may know he filed a lawsuit in November against me over three tweets that questioned his loyalty to our nation. We filed our motions to dismiss and they reduced it down to a single tweet and an ask of an insane $150,000,000 for that one tweet from two years ago.

As of last month his attempt to sue Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson in state court for almost same accusations was dismissed by the court and he decided to appeal that decision. While doing so he wants to stay our case until it's resolved.

Essentially they're arguing the cases are similar so they want to let it play out in state appeals court and put me on hold. Wilson's case was dismissed Jan. 30th. Our next deadline is this Weds, Mar. 27th. They waited 2 months. Here is their filing:

Flynn Motion for Stay

Flynn's lawyers notified us on February 1st they were appealing Wilson’s dismissal. Then they filed an extension motion for their response to our dismissal and Anti-SLAPP motions until March 27th, which was granted. Then they purposely waited 7 WEEKS until just before that March 27th deadline to file their stay motion and delay things even longer.

We oppose on these two points:

1. Under Florida's Anti-SLAPP law I'm entitled to expeditious resolution of this dispute and his constant delay tactics are impeding that process.

2. Flynn chose to file in state and federal courts separately. A federal case is not subservient to state. It was his choice to wait 2 years to file and where he did it. The fact they are piling up now is not our problem and shouldn’t effect resolution of his accusations against me.

Here is our response in full. This is exactly the lawfare that Flynn is constantly accusing his political opponents of waging. Using the courts to punish and silence your enemies is truly lawfare. A move that Flynn constantly accuses his opponents of doing while he executes against anyone who dares question his greatness.

For reference here is the case he filed against Jim Stewartson nearly a year ago in May 2023 in Florida state court that he later added Rick Wilson and others too.

He added Rick Wilson to that case in July of 2023 over tweets that were similar to the ones he accused me of being defamatory as well.

They're using every trick in the legal box to drag this case out and force me to spend money and time dealing with it in a clear attempt to stifle my free speech as we go into the election year. It won't work. My work is only growing and I won't be intimidated. We're not settling.

I will continue to fight and if we do not succeed in immediately obtaining dismissal, I look forward to the many depositions that will be sought. That means I need your help though.
