In those days the allegation was that we were spreading "humanism," by using Title 1 of the Education Act grants, considered by evangelical groups as a form of atheism. We also were involved in selling part of a district to the Amish, who used unaccredited 13 year old girls as teachers. As Yogi might have said. "deja vu all over again."
Trump was never on trial. The American justice system was. This bare minimal requirement for a jury of his “peers” to find him guilty is only our latest submission to mediocrity. Which in and of itself would not be an issue if it were not also for the forced adjacent acceptance of the gaslighting in believing this trial matters to preventing autocracy. That train long left the station in this country through the complicit exclusiveness and exceptionalism practices of our founding fathers.
It would be wise to take the required appetite suppressant for our excitement or anger with this verdict. The biggest trial is yet to come, where we as citizens stand as the accused on Tuesday, 5 November.
It is also worth mentioning a lot can happen between now and a July 11th sentencing date. Isn’t that right, mainstream legacy media, Capitol Hill and SCOTUS?
