I promise you I said exactly your words before I read your substack post post: "All I could think this morning was that these unfolding events were our own sneak preview of what is to come...." writing from near Paris, France. I'm depressed to say that our institutions won't hold. The Senate, the military, the police, and the Courts will fold when Trump and his gang confront them.

The mass hysteria of this happening in South Korea should bring pause to anyone paying attention to the current epoch in this country… it can and likely will happen here! Thanks for sharing!!

This serves as a salutary warning to all Americans who hold fast to the Idea of America: self-government by free and equal citizens under the rule of law that must (and, until quite recently, did) apply equally without fear or favor to every single citizen, whether high or low, rich or poor, powerful or ordinary.

It is extremely frustrating that everyday folks here aren't worried or think that could be a preview of things to come. It feels like we are sleepwalking into fascism because people want to bury their heads in the sand.
