On Democracy | Sunday features an incredible lineup of guests, breaking news, and a few laughs each week as we take on the network news shows. This week we brought in a great group to discuss everything from Democratic messaging to the fight on Capitol Hill with a panel in the middle to discuss Republican make-up tips and the Comments Section.
I will be posting the show every Sunday evening here in Substack in case you can’t make it live!
The Interview
After the news I interviewed Joe Jacobson former Obama official and founder of the Democratic PAC Progress Action Fund. Joe is a political strategist with 10 years of electoral, lobbying, and government experience. He is the founder of Progress Action Fund. Prior to founding the Progress Action Fund, Joe worked for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), where he oversaw endorsements, independent expenditures, and government relations operations in four purple counties in Southern California.
His group burst onto the scene this last cycle with hard hitting ads including the incredibly viral “Your Republican Congressman” series placing an omnipresent elected representative in average Americans bedrooms and homes.

The Panel
The Panel brought together two amazing comedians, Lisandra Vazquez and David Gborie.
Lisandra is a Puerto Rican-born, Atlanta-based stand up comedian. With a background in acting & improv, Lisandra’s storytelling point of view draws heavily on her experiences as a child who had to learn English guerilla-style, the ups and downs of living in Los Angeles for 13 years, her take on pop culture, and more…you probably saw her crying into her dollars when JD Vance called childless women miserable last year.
David Gborie is a comedian, writer, voice actor and all-around thorough dude originally from Denver, Colorado. He's recently appeared on NBC's AP Bio, TBS's Chad, and can currently be heard as the voice of Comedy Central. He is the co-host of the both the wildly popular All Fantasy Everything podcast as well as My Momma Told Me with Langston Kerman. David is the proud son of a hard-working Sierra Leonean mother, reps Colorado real heavy, and he’s never called the cops.
The Guest
Finally, I spoke with Representative Marcy Kaptur of Ohio’s 9th District. She is the longest serving woman in Congress having served since 1983. She serves on the powerful Appropriations Committee and is the ranking member on the Energy and Water SubCommittee. We discussed the deep damage being done by Trump and Musk for working Americans and the incredibly bad ideas buried in the new Republican budget proposal.
We caught the latest from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth who finally broke his silence on Fox News today saying that the reason they fired the Judge Advocate General’s of the armed services so they wouldn’t be “roadblocks to anything.”
Roadblocks to what, Pete?
