Life comes at you fast
We all know that the news is fast and furious. It’s hard to believe that the Wisconsin election was just a week ago…no seriously. It really was just a week ago. Before tariffs. Before Trump’s birthday parade planning. Just a single week ago Judge Susan Crawford won her election in the most expensive judicial race in history.
So, before we got too far away I wanted to talk to my friend Dr. Kristin Lyerly who ran for Congress last cycle but has long been fighting for women’s healthcare rights as a practicing OB/GYN who must do her work across the border because of Wisconsin’s draconian anti-abortion laws.
Kristin became heavily involved in the campaign to elect Justice Crawford as Elon Musk began pouring millions into the state. In the end he would spend over $25 million trying to win for the conservative candidate but falling significantly short.
This is an election year
We still have a host of elections this year before we even get deep into the midterm cycle. As of last week the contest for Virginia governor is set between former Representative Abigail Spanberger and current Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears with New Jersey building as well for their November statewide elections.
What lessons can we draw from Wisconsin for those races? How important was local organizing in the many regions of the state? What were the key issues?
There is much to talk about and Kristin and I had a brisk half hour discussion of the issues in this livestream today.
